The Zoning Resolution is New York City's zoning law — the text that establishes every zoning district, defines the terms of art (in § 12-10), sets use and bulk rules for residence (§ 23-), commercial (§ 33-), and manufacturing (§ 43-) districts, prescribes parking requirements (§ 25-, § 36-), and contains each special purpose district's bespoke chapter. Together with the zoning maps it governs what may be built, where, and how big, on every lot in the city.

The Resolution is amended continuously through the public land-use process, so citations always implicitly carry a date: analysis must run against the text in force.
